Prom Night

Uncategorized

So…..last Saturday night was the big night for Tyson….Prom Night.  Fun times!  I was attending the DCCW Convention at the Sheraton all day and Carl was working, so that left Tyson on his own to go pick up his tuxedo, pick up the corsage and get his car washed and vaccumed.  He was scheduled to pick up his date at 5:00, so I rushed home from the convention as soon as the afternoon session was over, so I could make sure he was dressed ‘right’ and to take some photos.  He looked great!  After he picked up his date, they were headed to a friends’ house for photos and appetizers.  I met Tyson there, so I could get some photos of everyone (and have a glass of wine with the other parents, yadda, yadda, yadda).  They all looked sooooo beautiful!  Since Tyson took a senior (and he is only a junior), he was in a group with all senior couples, which worked out fine, since he knew them all well.  I think he might have missed going with all his junior friends though! Tyson’s date had the cutest dress!  The photos don’t do it justice at all.  She is one to dress a bit funky, and this dress was soooooo cute in person.  Here are some photos:

Tyson had an AWESOME time!  Prom included dinner, which he said was pretty good! LOL!  Then there was dancing, and dancing and dancing! He had an extended curfew, so he didn’t get home until 2:30 am….and we had to be at the airport at 5:00 am for our flight to Santa Clara University for Junior Day.  He only got 1.5 hours of sleep….poor guy!  Of course, I only got 1 hour of sleep, because I can’t go to sleep until my kids have arrived home safe and sound for the night (morning!).  Oh well!  I’m glad he had a great time.  Tyson and I had a blast attending Junior Day at Santa Clara.  I’ll post those photos tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday!

PROM

Uncategorized

It’s that time of year……Prom Time!  T’s school doesn’t have a Senior Prom and/or a Junior Prom.  They just have Prom.  And you are only allowed to go if you are a senior or a junior….so T is finally getting to go to Prom.  Prom is this coming Saturday night, downtown at the Marriott.  He took his time asking a date….trying to decide between two different girls, but he finally decided on asking a cute girl named Emily.  She is a senior, and they had already scheduled a dinner date last Saturday night, so T took the opportunity to ask her then.  Of course, here in Utah, you don’t just verbally ask a date to Prom…..you have to come up with something creative.  We tossed around a few different ideas, but decided on something simple.  We picked up a large glass jar here and filled it with Hot Tamales, Dum Dum Suckers, Smarties and bite size Big Hunk Candy Bars.  We came up with this:  (sorry the photo quality is bad)

We’ve rented a tux and bought the dinner/dance tickets….need to order a corsage…but then Tyson will be set.  Prom 2007!  Ü

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Uncategorized

As promised…..some baseball photos.  Since Tyson was so neglected in my last post!  We are midway through the baseball season, and the Judge Bulldogs are doing awesome.  Right now they are sitting in first place in region play, and second place in 3A.  At the beginning of the season we put together a Baseball Carnival/Auction as a fundraiser.  For the first year, it turned out great!  Some of the photos below are from the carnival.  Tyson in the pie throwing booth, Tyson and a few of his buddies singing karaoke (sp) with some of the freshmen and sophmore players.  A few photos from the tournament down in Gunnison Utah as well.  So far, it has been a FUN season!

Back from Sin City….AGAIN!

Uncategorized

Back from Sin City ……AGAIN!  We were off to Las Vegas again last week for a baseball tournament with Tyson’s high school baseball team.  I have AWESOME parents that like to travel here and there to Madi and Tyson’s ball games, so they were up for the trip….and both my brother’s along with my niece Erin decided they would come along too (it was Spring Break for the kids)!  So it turned into a bit of a family vacation!  We had a great time!  We left right after the team left on Wednesday morning, and picked up my parents on the way.  We got into Vegas around 2:30pm, picked Tyson up from the team hotel and quickly ran over to the UNLV campus for a quick meeting with the football recruiting coach.  He took Tyson on a tour of the facilities and then let him hang out down on the field during football practice.  Pretty cool! He thought it was awesome! We checked into our hotel, got cleaned up and headed off to the baseball games.  Unfortunately, for the first few days, the weather didn’t really cooperate!  It was WINDY and CHILLY!  The Bulldogs (Tyson!) won the game …score was tied, bases were loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning, with two outs.  Tyson hit in the winning run!  EXCITING!  The Bulldogs ended up winning their next 3 games fairly easily and played in the Championship game on Saturday morning. They ran out of steam however, and ended up losing.  Still a successful tournament for the Bulldogs!  Tyson ended his trip in Vegas with another meeting over at UNLV, this time with the Baseball Recruiting Coach.  It was a great meeting, and Tyson was pretty impressed with the whole college baseball scene!

Some high points of our Las Vegas Trip:

·        Shopping at the Forum Shops with Carl, Madi, my brothers and my niece.

·        Madi’s first Juicy Couture purchase ~ She was in HEAVEN!

·        In and Out Burger

·        The NASCAR Roller Coaster at the Aladin! Love that thing!

·        The Fountains at the Bellagio, along with the Conservatory (all decked out with Spring flowers ~ GORGEOUS!)

·        Dinner at Margaritaville and our HUGE Margarita (Bong?) server!

·        Good Baseball games ~ Tyson’s home run, game winning hit, and throwing out 8 base stealers!

·        Time with Family!

Some lows:

·        The Pirate Show at Treasure Island ~ it was really just an adult lingerie show!  I was so disappointed! PLUS some chick threw up all over my feet!  And if you know me at all….you know I have a gag-reflex problem!  It was DISGUSTING and I was trapped until the show was over!! UGH!

·        Fremont Street ~ The new light show thing was boring!

·        The weather ~ Chilly and Windy for the first few days! I didn’t come back with any kind of suntan!  Plus all of the baseball games were at 8:00 in the morning.

I guess that about covers our Vegas trip in a nutshell!

Happy Tuesday!  ÜÜ

Happy Easter Eve!

Uncategorized

Busy Saturday.  I’m in charge of decorating the lockers for the varsity baseball team, so I have been working on the decorations for a few nights now.  Finished up last night.  I’m also in charge of the "goodie bags" we give the baseball players for their 5 hour drive down to Las Vegas next week.  I’ve been working on those too. AND…..I colored Easter Eggs!  Nobody else in the family likes to color them anymore…so I did it myself.  Not sure what is planned for tonight…..Madi is at a movie with a friend, it’s too early (6:00 pm) for Tyson to have any idea what he is doing yet….so maybe just a movie on the couch!  Happy Easter Eve!

What is a big roll of CAUTION tape doing in his room?  Has it been there for a long time?  How come I am just noticing it now?  What is it for?  What has he used it for?  Should I be worried? LOL!   Things that make you go….hmmmmmmmmm!

Happy Friday!

Dance Concert

Uncategorized

Dance Concert…..was so COOL!  We missed Thursday night’s performance due to Madi’s confirmation (which was much more important), but we got to see Friday night and Saturday night.  It was awesome!  My two favorite pieces were the two that Tyson was in…of course!  The dance concert was called "Moments" and each piece was based on a certain ‘moment’ that the coreographer had or remembered.  The first piece that Tyson was in was called Buoyancy.  The ‘moment’ was the first time the coreographer floated on the Great Salt Lake.  It was a ‘lifting’ piece, which meant that the boys were all lifting their partners in all kinds of complicated lifts over their heads, etc.  It was very cool.  The girls were wearing flowing white outfits and the boys were all in shades of blue….(lake colors).  They had some awesome photos of the piece, which I hope to get copies of soon.  The second piece that Tyson was in is a traditional piece in Dance Concert every year…They unofficially call it "Couples".  It is the piece that all of the junior and senior boys want to be in, and hope they get asked by a girl to be their partner.  This year the theme of the piece was "Movie Moments", loosely based on 80’s movies.  They were split into two large groups.  The first group did a couples dance themed after the movie FAME.  Then all of the boys did their own dance ala "Blues Brothers"…it was hilarious!  Tyson’s couples group did a "Dirty Dancing" themed dance.  Too cute!  Then the girls all came out and did their own dance from Napoleon Dynamite! OMG!  Too funny!  The piece ended with everyone on stage dancing to Austin Powers!  It great!  We laughed and laughed and laughed!  I should have some pretty funny pictures to share in the next week or so.  I don’t know if other schools include boys in their dance concert, but I loved seeing all of the big athletes in the school dancing!!!! At Judge Memorial it is the ‘COOL’ thing to do for the guys!  Tyson had the best time and despite all of the rehearsal time, early mornings, running from basketball or baseball practice to dance practice, it was worth it.  Yesterday he told me he was sad that it was all over!  Since they didn’t allow cameras or videos in the actual preformance, I didn’t get any photos of my own.  But I did get a few pictures of Tyson with this partners after the performance on Saturday night.  The first one is Tyson and Ellie, his partner in the lifting piece.  The second one is Tyson and Erin, his partner in the couples dance.  Each girl has already asked if Tyson will be her partner again next year!  He said yes, of course!

Confirmation for Madison

Uncategorized

Last night was Madison’s Confirmation into the Catholic Church.  We’ve been without a Bishop in Utah for over a year now, but we finally have one!  Bishop Wester was recently ordained, and his first order of business…..was Madi’s confirmation!  It was pretty cool to be the first confirmation class in Utah that Bishop Wester presided over, and it was even his first visit to any parish!  He did a great job and really seemed to connect to the kids!

Congratulations Madi!  We are very proud of you and LOVE YOU very much!

Some of the photos are blurry….bad camera and bad lighting!  Madi got this from Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Chris and Erin, and Carl and Tyson and I.  She was sooo excited she was shaking when she saw "the box" and opened it!
