Bulldogs win!

Uncategorized

We had a great time tailgating and watching our first home football game of the season on Friday night!  Good food, good friends, good times…..and good football.  The bulldogs beat the wildcats 41-18.  It was a beautiful night for football!

This is me with the mom’s of Tyson’s two best friends…Jordan Benson and Joe Pond.  We’ve been friends for years and years!  These pics were taken while we were tailgating before the game.

So….it’s Labor Day Weekend, and we haven’t done much at all yet!  Madi went to a freshmen pool party yesterday (she had a great time), and Tyson went to a college football game with some friends …..I can’t even say the name of the team…it is a "swear word" at our house! LOL!  They are huge rivals of the Utah Utes .  He had a good time though, except for the insane heat!  Carl is working today, so we don’t have big plans…..Tyson has more socials plans…a BBQ with friends…..Maybe we’ll do something fun tomorrow!  Have a great weekend!

Friday night football!

Our first home game is tonight!  We built a new football stadium last year, and didn’t get to play on our home field until midway through the season.  And even then, it wasn’t really complete.  The seatiing in the stands wasn’t complete, there was dirt and fencing around everything, the press box wasn’t done….and on and on.  BUT, now it is complete!  And tonight will be the first real home game!  We are getting together with a bunch of families to tailgate before the game.  Should be lots of fun!

Both kids have survived their 2nd week of school.  Madi is loving every minute of it!  Well, except for typical friend drama that usually accompanies high school girls!  She hasn’t been asked to the Homecoming Dance yet, but it is still early.  I know she has her fingers crossed though!  TGIF!

GO BULLDOGS!

Monday, Monday

Uncategorized

Here we are again….yet another Monday!  The second Monday that the kids have been back in school.  Both seemed to have survived the week.  Of course, for Tyson it is not new….just the same as last year!  Except he is a senior now.  Madi on the other hand, has been full of new and exciting information all week!  Her social life has definitely picked up!  All the cute boys and new friends…..she is lovin’ it!  And so far, she seems to be doing fine with all of her classes and teachers.  Keep those fingers crossed!

No football last week.  It was very weird!  Both the freshmen and JV teams played, but Varsity had a bye week.  I missed it!  ÜÜ   We play Woods Cross this week, which is a team that is in the area that we live in, so we know quite a few of the players.  Should be fun!

I picked up a new book on a whim at Barnes & Noble last week.  We stopped by to pick up a book for Madi and I saw a book that has had everyone I know talking about it.  So, I grabbed it.  And, I literally couldn’t put it down!  I loved this book, and I’m not even sure why!  It is not a subject that I would normally read (vampires)….but I was hooked from page one!  Have you read it yet?

If you have read it, let me know what you think!  I just picked up the next book:

First Day of School

Uncategorized

WOW!  I can’t believe it….I have TWO, yes TWO kids in high school now!  YIKES!  Where has the time gone?!?!?!  Madi started her freshman year at Judge Memorial Catholic High School today!  School doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, but today was freshman orientation.  Tyson is a Peer Minister this year, so he was required to be at school today, since they were in charge of the orientation.  It worked out perfectly…..Madison was in Tyson’s orientation group, which made her happy, since she was a little nervous!  She had a great day!  Neither Tyson or Madi were thrilled with the traditional First Day of School photos….but they humored me!  You can tell they aren’t that excitd!  LOL!

Are ya ready for some football?

Uncategorized

WOW!  I can’t believe it!  Football season is HERE!  Tyson’s senior season officially begins tomorrow night.  The Judge Memorial Bulldogs take on North Sanpete tomorrow night at 7:00 pm.  Tyson has been waiting for this night since their devestating loss to Bear River in the quarter finals of the state playoffs last year.  Tyson will be the starting fullback on offense, and the starting strong side linebacker on defense.  At the Red and Gold scrimmage last weekend, the captains were named…..and T was name a captain!  Go Tyson!  He has worked so hard over the past 4 years and this summer getting ready for the season!  We are so proud of him!  Go T!

Weekend is over…..

Uncategorized

And I’m somewhat relieved.  It has been a hard week, with the death of Tyson’s friend, two-a-day football practices, the viewing and funeral, and the annual Red and Gold Football game on Saturday.  Tyson and Carl attended the viewing on Friday night, and Carl said it was one of the hardest things he has ever had to do.  So, so sad.  The next morning was the Red and Gold Football game (scrimmage) at the high school.  Tyson and his friends, Joe and Jordan played in the game (Tyson’s GOLD team won!), and then headed to the funeral together.  It was definitely a day full of mixed emotions.  Seth was an awesome young man, and will be greatly missed by so many.

Sad news…..

Uncategorized

We received some sad and tragic news last Saturday, and I have struggled with blogging about it.   A friend of Tyson’s, Seth Fraughton, drowned in Bear Lake on Saturday morning.  It was just a freak accident, and so, so sad.  He was spending the weekend at Bear Lake with a bunch of the Viewmont High School football team.  Just having fun, bonding, and gearing up for two-a-day practices this week.  He was swimming in the lake and cramped up.  His friends were unable to reach him in time.  Tyson met Seth while playing on the Viewmont Viking Little League Football Team.  He has known Seth since he was 8 years old.  Even though Tyson, along with two other little league teammates (Joe and Jordan) attend a different high school now, they still keep in contact, and frequently see all of the boys they played with.  Seth was the star running back at Viewmont, and a track star as well.  He had such a bright future ahead of him.  On Saturday night, they held a candle light vigil at Viewmont High School  I think it really helped Tyson to be with his former teammates and coaches, along with other friends from the area.  We are so saddened by this news.  Our thoughts and prayers go out the whole Fraughton family.  Below is a photo I "borrowed" from my friend Christina’s blog.  It is a photo of the Little League Team.  Tyson is #33 in the front middle row, and Seth is #72 on the top row.  (After Tyson went to Judge, Seth started wearing #33 – they used to tease each other about that!).

If you could please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank God It’s Friday!  ’nuff said!

Seriously though, what a LONG, LONG week!  It’s 5:52 pm on Friday night, and I am STILL at work!  Of all the days for my computer to print my checks  S  L  O  W  L  Y……it picks tonight! LOL!  Ugh!  It is taking forever!  I need to get the hell outta here and start the weekend, baby!

Not much planned.  A wedding reception for one of the middle school teachers both kids had in school, Carl will be working during the day tomorrow, but his softball team is playing in the Corporate Games tomorrow evening.  We may try and do another outdoor movie night with some friends, but that is about it.  School begins on the 20th (YIKES!), and football season kicks off for Tyson next Saturday with the annual Red/Gold game.  We just finished up baseball on Wednesday night!  Craziness, I tell ya!  So we need to get the kids started on getting ready for it all to begin….homework, early mornings, studying, etc!

On a bit of a sad note……Madi has decided to leave her current softball team.  She has played with this team for the last 7 years, and has had some wonderful experiences, and made some awesome friends.  However, we think it is time for a change.  The coaching situation isn’t working out for Madison, and several of her close friends on the team have also opted to make a change.  So….we’ll see what happens!  On to the next adventure….

Have an AWESOME weekend! And just because I hate posts with no pictures…here is a random one!  Madi hanging out at the baseball field…..What a cute little bug! I can’t believe she is starting high school in two weeks!
