Okay, I’m going to try this post again! Hopefully, I won’t lose it again right as I try to post it!
I was able to cross the first item off my 2012 Summer Bucket List by going to the Farmers Market. I went to with two friends on the morning of the opening weekend. It was so crowded! But we had a ball! The first item on the agenda (at least for me!) was an iced coffee!
I had picked up my Bountiful Basket earlier that morning, so I knew I wasn’t really in need of much in the way of fruits and veggies. It was probably a good thing, since the market was so packed we could barely maneuver through all the fruits and veggie booths! It was crazy!
One of the first stops we made was at Happy Monkey Hummus. I love hummus and they had so many fabulously different flavors to try, like Margarita and Suesabi. My favorite was a Pesto Hummus. Delicious! I picked up a tub, and it was eaten in two days! So good!
Right across from the Happy Monkey Hummus booth, was the fabulous craftsman. He was so busy with customers though, that he hadn’t had a chance to put out any business cards or info about his jewelry. So many beautiful pieces!
I hope to get back again soon, and find out if he has a website, etc. The prices on these pendants was great! Only $15!
Next stop was Gaia's Garden. Oh my! Gorgeous potted flowers!
The next items that caught my eye, was all of this gorgeous pottery!
I especially loved this large platter/bowl
Clark Marshall is the artist, and you can find his shop HERE
I’ve seen these next items all over pinterest (beer bottles), but I haven’t seen wine bottles or liquor bottles before. They were so cool!
I can't believe it is already the first day of summer! Crazy how times just flies by!
Do you have any fun plans to celebrate?
I plan on hitting up GPP after work with Carl for a nice ab workout. That will be nice after the torching my legs/quads received from the past two squat/lunge heavy workout.
If I can still walk, I'm hoping to hit a Zumba class at Skills Fitness after.
Then it will be home to cook up something for dinner! Not sure what yet, but somthing good!
After my last Chobani love post, my cute friend Janetha (who is BFF’s with Chobani) told them about my recent love fest with their yogurt, and I received an email from them asking my fave flavors. Then they graciously offered to send me a case of those faves! What? Really?
Yup!
And last week after a particularly crazy day at work, I came home to this:
Seriously?
I was so excited to rip into this box!
Sorry, for the crappy cell phone pics! I was just too excited to grab my good camera!
I have been hearing a lot about the Honey flavor, but I was unable to find it at my local store. Lindsay @ Chobani offered to send me some to try in my case of faves. I am so glad she did! It was FABULOUS! I loved it!
As I said in my earlier post, I have never been a big yogurt fan. I’m not sure why. Something about the flavor was just off for me. BUT, not Chobani.
I LOVE IT!
Can’t get enough of it!
If you haven’t tried Chobani Greek Yogurt yet, PLEASE do! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
A HUGE thanks to Janetha, Lindsay and Ashley for being so awesome!
Please check out Janetha's Blog Meals and Moves! She is awesome! Great posts on fitness, health, food, and everyday life, and she recently hosted a fabulous blogger retreat BLEND. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her in person, and sort of working out at GPP with her. I say “sort of” because she is a rock star and much faster and stronger than I am! I am in awe of her!
What a great, fun packed weekend! I can't believe how fast it went by though. Hate how that happens. We wait and wait for the weekend, and it goes by in a flash!
The weekend started for us at 5:00 pm on Friday. Carl and Tyson hit GPP for THIS workout. I wasn't able to make it there by 5:00 pm, so I hit my 5:30 Zumba class with Teresa. It did not disappoint. I know we all came home exhausted and ready to begin the weekend. On Saturday. We were way too tired to begin anything on Friday night. :)
Saturday Carl and Tyson once again hit up GPP for a workout. I was a big slacker. I slept in. My bad, I know.
After that, Carl and I headed out to The Gateway to do a little shopping. While we were there, we noticed some fabulous sidewalk chalk art going on! Loved it!
So talented! And so fun to watch! After doing a little shopping and getting my eyebrows threaded (which was VERY painful, by the way!), we headed out to Rocky Mountain Raceways for my brother's racing debut! His good friend Ron Duncombe was out of town and unable to race his car this weekend, so the racing team decided to put Kevin behind the wheel. Kevin has been working behind the scenes on many race teams over the years, so this was really a no brainer! We had a blast, and Kevin did awesome. Tyson went out with Kevin earlier in the day to help Kevin get ready, etc. Tyson had a great time, and loved being Kevin's "pit crew"!
Tyson and Kevin before the race
Madi & George, and Carl & I in the stands
The "old people" (my parents) getting the VIP treatment! Golf cart ride from their car, to their seats! 🙂
It was seriously, so much fun! After the races, we got to hang out in the pits and Madi and I even got to get in the race car. Sooooo small. We couldn't believe how tight you are tucked in there! Pretty cool! We had such a great time, and I was so proud of my brother Kevin! Can't wait until his next race!
Sunday, Carl, Madi and I spent a few hours at the pool, before heading to may parents house for dinner. Carl and I got a bit fried. Oooops!
After the pool, I made some carrot cake cupcakes (my dad's fave) and we headed down to Salt Lake for dinner.
As some of you may remember (due to my roller coaster blog posting!), Tyson went away to college about 4 years ago! About two years after he left for college, we moved Madi into his room (sorry, slacker and no photos – believe me - it was a CUTE room!). Then SHE graduated from high school, and decided to move out! What?
Wait, no worries. Her "new" room (the bigger of the two spare rooms) became my craft room! Excuse the mess, this was right in the middle of Christmas present wrapping!
I just spent an hour typing, uploading photos and editing a post about my day at the Farmers Market last Saturday. I hit publish and……….BAM! Computer crashed, and my post was lost.
Really?
Yup, really.
It's now 11:00 pm, and after this workout and Zumba…I'm over it. I can't even begin to reconstruct my post tonight.
Some of you know that I have been on a bit of a fitness quest for the last year. You can read about my story HERE, but here is a photo that shows a before/after:
Anyway….along with Zumba, I started doing GPP about 3 months ago as well. I fell in love with it. I even recruited Tyson and Carl to join along with me. They are loving it as well.
In my quest to get more fit, I have been trying to eat more fruits and veggies, AND more protein.
This was tonight's dinner:
Roasted Asparagus and Broccoli
Roasted Sweet Peppers, Tomatoes and more Broccoli
Paired with Turkey, wrapped in bacon
After a GPP workout, and Zumba class = 880 calories burned….it was the perfect meal!
Wow! Is it really Monday morning already? Why do the weekend always seem to just fly by?
We had a fun weekend, but didn’t accomplish a whole lot. Sometimes that is nice though, right?
The weekend started off on Friday evening, when Carl and I hit GPP for THIS workout. It was just like the name….Hard Core! Running with a dumbbell above your head? Who does that? :) I took a much needed nap when I got home at around 6:00 pm. Napping on a Friday night. Once again, who does that? After a week of some intense GPP workouts and Zumba, I was more than a little exhausted. We just chilled at home on Friday night with a little takeout from Chilis and went to bed early.
Saturday morning Carl had a softball game and I had to pick up our basket from Bountiful Baskets. Such yummy goodness this week!
Green apples, bananas, tomatoes, pineapple, celery, kale, romaine, apricots, plums, cucumbers, mangos, honeydew and squash. Can’t wait to gobble all of this goodness up this week!
After picking up my basket, I met two of my friends at the Farmer's Market. We had such a great time, but it was so crowded! It was the first weekend, and I can’t believe how many people were there! I’m planning on doing a separate post tomorrow on some of the fun vendors and food choices!
I went to Mass on Saturday night, as a friend of mine was being honored as Woman of the Year. I began to feel a tingle in my throat about this time, and just starting to feel a bit out of it. Not sure what was up. After Mass, we (Carl, Tyson and I) made THE BEST PIZZA EVAH. It was delish. By this time, I was definitely starting to feel sick. Who gets sick in June? Ugh. Early to bed for me. Sunday was spent resting and sleeping mostly. Good times. We did head down to my parents house late afternoon to celebrate my brother’s birthday. By that time, I was feeling much better and ready to spend some time with the fam. We had a great time. Now it’s back to the grind. Why do weekends go by so fast?
How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? Would love to hear about it!
On Monday night, I grilled chicken that had been marinating in Trader Joe's Teriyaki Sauce, and it was so delish, that I saved some to take to work in my lunch the next day. This salad came together really quickly, and I basically just threw in items I already had in the fridge.
Ingredients:
Romaine Lettuce
Grilled Chicken
Mushrooms
Chopped Sweet Peppers (Red, Yellow and Orange)
Sugar Snap Peas
Hard Boiled Egg
I topped the salad with a little Balsamic Vinegar
It was soooo delicious and filling! I will be making this salad again for sure!
Since Tyson has been gone for the past 4 years, and only home for the summer and Christmas vacations, he sort of lost his bedroom. Since he had the bigger bedroom, we moved Madi into it after Tyson left for college. Well, Madi moved out last fall, and I moved my craft crap supplies in!
Tyson's stuff got moved around a few times, and was divided between a few rooms. When he got home last weekend, we decided to make his room a bit more "his". We did get it painted, (more on that later in the week) and moved most of Madi's stuff out of the closet. While going through stuff, I came across Madi's Disneyland Autograph Book. Brought back so many fun memories of that particular trip to Disneyland! We surprised the kids for Christmas!
