It’s that time of year!

HOMECOMING!  Well, next week anyway.  Tyson was taking his sweet time deciding who to ask to the dance this year.  Last night he finally decided to ask a cute girl named Jenny.  So, off to Target we went.  We picked up a cool glass candy jar like this:

Candy_jar that we filled with DUM-DUM suckers and Smarties.  We attached this tag to it:Homecoming_05_1

He took the jar full of candy to school today.  He was going to have a friend of his have it sitting on her desk in CP (Home Room) Hopefully, she will say YES!

Tolerance….

Uncategorized

Why don’t more people have it?  What is the deal?  I frequent a message board that has thousands of members.  If you are a scrapper, you know exactly which site I am talking about.  It amazes me how many seemingly "nice" threads turn into train wrecks in the blink of an eye.  And I admit it…. I’m one of those rubber neckers that can’t tear herself away from the wreck! Ü  But seriously, why don’t people have more tolerance for others?  What is right for me, may not be right for you!  What religion I choose, may not be right for you.  Who am I to say how you should parent your child?  So what if you choose not to breastfeed your child.  Maybe you’re not able to.  What gives me the right to chastise you for your choice?  And so what if you have a tattoo? (I have 2 by the way).  It is your choice.  It certainly doesn’t "hurt" me.  Do you homeschool?  If you do, great!  If you don’t, great too!  What concern is it of mine?   Do you see where I am going with this?  My world is gray.  Not black and white.  Not cut and dried.  What works for me, may not work for you.  What is a sin to me, may not be a sin to you.  Would I have left New Orleans if I were told to evacuate?  I would think so, but I really  have no idea what I would do.  I’m not in that situation.  Would I leave without knowing where missing family member were?  I haven’t a clue.  I can’t even imagine what some of these people are going through.  So how can I say whether their choices were right or wrong?  I don’t think I can.

Okay enough venting!  I’ll step off my soapbox for now!  Thanks for listening!

Bulldogs 61 ~ Ben Lomand 0

Uncategorized

Woo Hoo!  We beat Ben Lomand 61 -0!  What an awesome game.  The boys played so well!  Tyson had a great game on special teams during the first half.  The second half Tyson got in on defense as well, making some nice tackles.  During the 4th quarter with a 48 – 0 lead, Tyson was able to get in on offense, racking up 121 yards rushing.  Making him the leading rusher for the night!  We were so excited and proud.  This was in the Salt Lake Tribune on Saturday morning:

OGDEN — Judge Memorial’s Dominique Parker rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown. Tyson Moll added 121 yards on the ground.
   Judge Memorial (2-1, 0-0) 6 14 28 13 — 61
   Ben Lomond (0-3, 0-0) 0 0 0 0 — 0
    J — Price 8 run (kick fail)
    J — Price 2 run (Crandall kick)
J — Hristou 15 pass to Wilde (Crandall kick)
    J — Price 22 run (Crandall kick)
    J — Price 34 run (Crandall kick)

Friday Means FOOTBALL!

Uncategorized

Actually Thursday does too since Tyson plays JV (which is on Thurs.) and Varsity which is on Friday nights.  The Bulldogs play Ben Lomand this week.  The freshmen team won 48-0 and the JV team won 43-0.  It was a great game and Tyson scored 2 TD’s!  Hopefully, the varsity team will follow suite and win big too!  Go BULLDOGS!

Also playing tonight is the UNIVERSITY of UTAH!  Woo Hoo!  Go UTES! They are playing Arizona here at Rice Eccles Stadium.  GO UTES!

Madi has soccer games tomorrow (Mayor’s Cup) and nothing else the rest of the day.  Scrap maybe?  Hmmmm, we’ll see.  Sunday we are going to an annual pool party that our friend’s host each year.  This year one of them is battling breast cancer so the theme is COCKTAILS FOR CANCER.  It should be a fun day of relaxing, chatting with friends, and or course having a cocktail or two!

No plans for Monday.  More scrappping?  That would be awesome!  I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!  And continued prayers going out to those affected by Hurricane Katrina!  Peace be with you!

A link worth sharing

I came acrossed a post today at 2peas from Katrine regarding her day volunteering at the Astrodome in Houston with the New Orleans refugees.  Here is the link to her blog:  Katrine .  It is really worth reading.  It is nice to get a different view than what the news is showing us.  This made me feel a tad bit better.  I hope and pray that all of those affected by Hurricane Katrina can get the help and assistance that they so desperately need.

Prayers and more Prayers!

Uncategorized

So many prayers going out to all of those being affected (effected?) by Hurricane Katrina!  I just can’t believe the devastation.  It is really hard to wrap my brain around it all.  And really, no words really seem adequate in this situation.  I’m at a loss.  It is almost incomprehensable.  I will continue to pray that God gives all involved the HOPE, STRENGTH, and PERSEVERANCE to endure this disaster.

Closure?

Uncategorized

Is there such a thing?  I don’t know.  I hope so.  January 14, 1999…. the day that my life changed.  The day that my sister-in-law, Anne Sleater was shot in the head while conducting a new employee interview at AT&T.  She was recently back to work after maternity leave.  At a job she loved.  Erin was 6 months old.  She was happy.  Life was good.  In the blink of an eye, everything changed.  It was a fluke.  A paranoid schizophrenic upset at the news media for reasons nobody knew, stormed the Triad Center with a gun.  Trying to find a reporter to shoot.  Instead she ended up on the 4th floor.  Where Anne worked.  And shot Anne.  She lived for 8 days and endured 2 surgeries.  We prayed, we grieved and we mourned.  But that wasn’t the end.  We have had to endure 6.5 years of competancy hearings for De-Kieu Duy (the shooter).  Hearing after hearing after hearing.  Each time she is found incompetant.  Is this justice?  I don’t know.  Will she ever be competant to stand trial?  I don’t think so.

And so we are at today.  August 30, 2005.  The day that De-Kieu Duy is civily committed in-voluntarily to the State Mental Hospital forever (most likely).  If by some miracle she is ever found competant the hospital will contact the court and she will stand trial.   And so we move forward.  No more competancy hearing deadlines looming in the background of our lives.  No more wondering if there will be a trial.  I felt relief leaving the courthouse today.  For the first time.  And it felt good.

Today is a day to remember Anne.  To forget about the details surrounding her death, but to feel comfort in the fact that she is with us and watching us every day.  Today is the day to hug Erin extra hard and give her tons of smoochie kisses.  And to let her know her mommy loved her very much.

Somthing I’m Lovin’

Uncategorized

I just discovered a new album and I am lovin’ it!  I have a kajillion different scrapbook albums.  Everything from Creative Memories to Making Memories to Heidi Swapp to random "no name" albums.  I use different albums for different things.  And I really love them all!  Anyone who knows me, knows that I take tons of pictures at my kids football, baseball, basketball and softball games.  SO…. I have a ton of pictures from Tyson’s freshman year of high school that I really want to get put in an album (now that his sophomore year has started).  And I CKU-A I found this:

Scrapworks Scrapworks_logo

The perfect solution to my many, many photos that I can’t seem to scrap!  This whole album system is exactly what I needed for Tyson’s freshman year photos.  The pages are all 12 x 12, but some of them are divided differently.  For example you can do a traitional 12 x 12 page.  Or you could do a page that is divided into 6 4×6 sections.  You can insert a photo in 4 of the 4×6 sections and then maybe journaling in another section and then embelishments in another.  Does that make sense?  Probably not.  I am bad at explaining.  I will try and scan a page and post later tonight when I get home.  I was able to whip out 4 pages in one night!  Very cool!  Okay…… check ’em out!
