Busy Saturday. I’m in charge of decorating the lockers for the varsity baseball team, so I have been working on the decorations for a few nights now. Finished up last night. I’m also in charge of the "goodie bags" we give the baseball players for their 5 hour drive down to Las Vegas next week. I’ve been working on those too. AND…..I colored Easter Eggs! Nobody else in the family likes to color them anymore…so I did it myself. Not sure what is planned for tonight…..Madi is at a movie with a friend, it’s too early (6:00 pm) for Tyson to have any idea what he is doing yet….so maybe just a movie on the couch! Happy Easter Eve!
On my way to the shower this morning, Tyson’s bedroom door was ajar and I saw this:
*Excuse the mess*
What is a big roll of CAUTION tape doing in his room? Has it been there for a long time? How come I am just noticing it now? What is it for? What has he used it for? Should I be worried? LOL! Things that make you go….hmmmmmmmmm!
Go HERE and donate to Ali Edwards Autism Speaks Badge. Kevin Bacon has started THIS organization. How cool is that?!?!?! You can read more about it HERE on Ali Edwards’s blog, but Kevin Bacon will match up to $10,000 in donations for the top 6 badges. Right now Ali’s badge is #1, but with only one more day to go….things are going to heat up. There is a minimum $10 donation….but really, what is $10? Everyone can donate $10! GO FOR IT!
Some photo proofs of Dance Concert…..Tyson lifting Ellie, "Blues Brothers" with his buddies, "Dirty Dancing" with Erin, and the ending pose of "Austin Powers"….
Dance Concert…..was so COOL! We missed Thursday night’s performance due to Madi’s confirmation (which was much more important), but we got to see Friday night and Saturday night. It was awesome! My two favorite pieces were the two that Tyson was in…of course! The dance concert was called "Moments" and each piece was based on a certain ‘moment’ that the coreographer had or remembered. The first piece that Tyson was in was called Buoyancy. The ‘moment’ was the first time the coreographer floated on the Great Salt Lake. It was a ‘lifting’ piece, which meant that the boys were all lifting their partners in all kinds of complicated lifts over their heads, etc. It was very cool. The girls were wearing flowing white outfits and the boys were all in shades of blue….(lake colors). They had some awesome photos of the piece, which I hope to get copies of soon. The second piece that Tyson was in is a traditional piece in Dance Concert every year…They unofficially call it "Couples". It is the piece that all of the junior and senior boys want to be in, and hope they get asked by a girl to be their partner. This year the theme of the piece was "Movie Moments", loosely based on 80’s movies. They were split into two large groups. The first group did a couples dance themed after the movie FAME. Then all of the boys did their own dance ala "Blues Brothers"…it was hilarious! Tyson’s couples group did a "Dirty Dancing" themed dance. Too cute! Then the girls all came out and did their own dance from Napoleon Dynamite! OMG! Too funny! The piece ended with everyone on stage dancing to Austin Powers! It great! We laughed and laughed and laughed! I should have some pretty funny pictures to share in the next week or so. I don’t know if other schools include boys in their dance concert, but I loved seeing all of the big athletes in the school dancing!!!! At Judge Memorial it is the ‘COOL’ thing to do for the guys! Tyson had the best time and despite all of the rehearsal time, early mornings, running from basketball or baseball practice to dance practice, it was worth it. Yesterday he told me he was sad that it was all over! Since they didn’t allow cameras or videos in the actual preformance, I didn’t get any photos of my own. But I did get a few pictures of Tyson with this partners after the performance on Saturday night. The first one is Tyson and Ellie, his partner in the lifting piece. The second one is Tyson and Erin, his partner in the couples dance. Each girl has already asked if Tyson will be her partner again next year! He said yes, of course!
Last night was Madison’s Confirmation into the Catholic Church. We’ve been without a Bishop in Utah for over a year now, but we finally have one! Bishop Wester was recently ordained, and his first order of business…..was Madi’s confirmation! It was pretty cool to be the first confirmation class in Utah that Bishop Wester presided over, and it was even his first visit to any parish! He did a great job and really seemed to connect to the kids!
Congratulations Madi! We are very proud of you and LOVE YOU very much!
Some of the photos are blurry….bad camera and bad lighting! Madi got this from Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Chris and Erin, and Carl and Tyson and I. She was sooo excited she was shaking when she saw "the box" and opened it!
It’s Tuesday. Again. Ü A lot going on….Madison’s Confirmation Mass this Thursday night, baseball season has begun (a trip to Gunnison (?) ) last weekend for a tournament, Dance Concert this weekend (T is in two pieces Ü )….weather has been beautiful (I’ve started my summer tan), hosted BONCO at my house….. Lot’s of stuff!
Here are some random photos (If Typepad cooperates)
Madi pitching in Mesquite a few weeks ago:
This is what Tyson looks like every night after baseball practice (ice on his knees, hip and shoulder)
Judge Memorial Baseball Team after winning the Gunnnison Tournament last weekend (I have no idea why Tyson is in the bad BEHIND everyone! Nerd!):
Easter goodies I gave as favors at Bonco:
That’s it….Pretty exciting, eh? LOL! I’ll have some cutie patootie photos of Madi after confirmation on Thursday night…and then some photos of Tyson at Dance Concert….He is in a ‘lifting’ piece (where the strong boys lift the girls), and then a ‘couples’ piece. The theme of ‘couples’ is 80’s movies. He and his partner are in a group dancing to "Dirty Dancing"….then just the boys have something to "Blues Brothers", and then the everyone ends with some "Austin Powers" thing…. Should be FUNNY!
Thank GOD it’s Friday! Woo Hoo! And guess what….NO road trip this weekend. Yea! I cannot tell you what horrible luck I’ve had the past few weeks with horrible driving weather on our road trips! Thank heavens that I persuaded Carl to go with us last weekend to Madi’s softball tournament in Mesquite, NV. We hit a horrible snow storm on the way down, and then another one on the way home. I was so glad he was driving this time, instead of me.
We did have a good time in Mesquite though. We stopped in St. George to see the boys basketball team in their semi-final game in the State Tournament. Our team was the strong favorite to repeat as State Champions this year for most of the season….however, it just wasn’t meant to be this year. We lost a close game, and ended up taking 3rd place. Tyson spent a few days in St. George with a bunch of friends that drove down for the tournament. It sounds like he had a good time….although I’m not sure I know EVERYTHING that went on! 😉
After the game on Friday night we drove another 30 miles to Mesquite. Madi’s softball team had a great tournament and went undefeated into the championship game on Sunday afternoon. However, they lost! It was such a bummer! They played a team they had beaten earlier in the day and a few weeks ago in Las Vegas. This time it just wasn’t meant to be though. Madi pitched in the first game, and again in the Championship game….she had a big triple, and laid down some awesome bunts! GO MADI!!! Here are two photos of her pitching on Saturday morning…okay, typepad is not letting me post a photo right now….I’ll try again later.
Happy Friday! No big weekend plans. I have BONCO at my house on Thursday night, so I’ll be cleaning, cleaning and cleaning. The baseball team is hosting a Fundraising Silent Auction and Carnival next weekend, so I will be tying up lose ends for that as well.
Yep, that’s me! On the road again. This time to Mesquite, NV (where it is 72 degrees today ~ YIPPEEEE!)….with Tyson for a baseball camp. Mesquite is only 1 hour outside of Las Vegas….so yes, I just drove through Mesquite to get to Vegas last weekend….and I get to go to Mesquite again next weekend…softball tournament for Madi. Fun times!
Madi and I made it back from Las Vegas safe and sound Sunday night after a somewhat harrowing drive home! We hit a snow storm between Beaver and Fillmore. Not fun. I was scared to death! This was just a few weeks after Tyson and I had a snowy, scary drive down to Mesquite. Ugh! Madi’s Softball Team did really well though! They won 4 out of 5 games! Madi pitched on Friday night and struck out 5 batters…3 of them were caught "looking" at the 3rd strike. She did awesome! AND……Madi hit a homerun on Sunday! For my birthday! LOL! It was soooo cool! She hit a grand slam a few weeks ago, while I was in Mesquite, which I didn’t get to see, so this was AWESOME!! Go Madi!
Madi and I have a lot of fun together. We went on THIS rollercoaster. Now, I love rollercoasters…..love them! But, this thing….scared me! It takes off soooo fast! I loved it though!
We are having a low-key valentines at home tonight. Just hanging out with the kids. Tyson had football practice (conditioning) after school, then dance concert rehearsal (yes, you read that right) and hitting with the baseball team….he won’t get home until close to 8:30 – 9:00 tonight. So, I think Madi, Carl and I will just have some take out chinese maybe????
On a sad note….my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in the Trolley Square Shooting, such a horrible and tragic event. I used to work with Jeff Walker, who was killed in the shooting, and who’s son is currently in critical condition at the University of Utah hospital. My heart goes out to his family and the other families who lost loved ones or who have loved ones that are wounded. I know all too well what they are feeling and going through right now.
