Tyson’s College Choice

Finally!  Tyson’s college choice! Just as Tyson was ready to make the decision final, he received some last minute financial aid from one of his other top choices (Occidental)….so we had to discuss a few more things.  So it is official, well almost official, meaning we have paid the registration fee, notified the football and baseball coaches, etc…..but there is still a possibility another opportunity may arise with baseball….we’ll deal with that, when/if it happens.  So….without further ado……Tyson’s choice for college is:

The UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS in Redlands, California.  VERY close to my friends Marlo and Shanna!  Yea!

We went out for a football recruiting visit in January, and Tyson fell in love with the school.  We also visited Occidental on a football recruiting visit the same weekend, and he felt the same way about that school.  Tyson really liked the science department at Oxy, and the football and baseball players, along with all of the coaches.  He loved the campus at Redlands, and the football coaches and players were also amazing.  It was a really hard decision for him.  It basically came down to how much financial aid/academic scholarship $$$ he got from each school, and whether or not he could play both football and baseball.  That was the main reason Tyson looked at Division III schools….the opportunity to play two sports and be able to contribute on the field immediately, rather than having to red-shirt a year. He also wanted to make sure he got a good education.  That was very important!  He is planning on majoring in Chemistry/Pre-Med, with the hopes of going into Orthopedics or Physical Therapy.

We are all excited to see what the next four years hold for Tyson, as he enters a NEW stage in his life.  And Madi is especially excited that Tyson will be attending college in California!  Warm weather and beaches!  🙂  Here are a few more photos from our visit:

Yeehaw!!! It’s a beautiful school. Can’t wait when you are in Cali more often. You’ll have to bring Madi and take her shopping at Victoria Gardens. She’ll love it there.

Congratulations on Tyson’s choice! I love the Redlands area. My brother’s girlfriend is from Redlands and she loves it. There is a great little downtown with a farmers market and quaint shops. You’ll love that he has all of the access to southern California without living IN L.A. You can breath a little out in Redlands. How exciting!
